Berrima Fight Day.
It will be a single day event and will be held at the central park at Berrima.
Starts at 10am, finishes at 4pm.
Those wanting selling their goods are more than welcome. Don't forget the awesome antique shops in Berrima.
Non-Combatants are more than welcome and if anyone wants to run workshops during the day, please let me know.
Fighting Rules
Alex Barnes is the Marshall for the event.
Unless stated otherwise, combat rules are as per the most current Conference fighting requirements. http://www.coppergate.com.au/conferention/combat/combat.shtml
No rusty, burred, pointed, over-weighted and/or sharp weapons.
All blows are controlled and pulled. There will be no acceptance of an individual's desire to be hit harder and this to be reciprocated.
Marshall of groups will only allow fighters who have been deemed competent and safe enough to fight in intergroup combat. No new fighters who haven't fought in an open melee group training previously. No, "He'll be right, just go slow with him". Marshalls who are found letting unsafe fighters on the field will have the member removed from the field and explain why the rest of their group should stay on the field.
Combatants are only to use weapons that their group Marshall has approved. No 'on the day' authorisations.
Minimum armour for all combatants is helmet and gauntlets. A hand holding a shield may use a leather glove. It is strongly suggested that forearms and shins have protection as they are target areas and a box because of Murphy's Law.
One hit, one kill. No 'disabled' combatants. Either immediately drop to the ground in the horizontal position (no fake convolsing/screaming) or remove yourself from the field. If you walk onto the field in Gothic plate, we can negotiate on a case by case situation.
Target areas are: Top of head (no horizontal head blows), arms, legs and torso (not above armpit height). Groin, face, throat, neck, spine and joints are not target areas. Whilst combatants are to take downward strikes to the shoulder, they are NOT be targeted. Heads, whilst critical for some combatants, are protected by metal, padding and sometimes suspension construction. Shoulders, collar bones and nerve clusters across the shoulders are generally not protected sufficiently for direct, aimed blows.
If you fall over, you are dead.
Stationary 'St George' blocks against the head of 2 handed pole weapons means that you're `dead'. If you deflect the blow and/or move your body away or check the haft, you live.
No sword tag or fishing with axes. Points of swords are to start their swing from at least in the vertical line from the top of the head.
If you plan to move your opponent's shield by hooking with axes, etc, it is NOT to be on the top of the shield where your weapon and your opponent's face are close.
2 handed axes (and other 2 handed weapons) are to be used in a controlled manner (like all other weapons) with the understanding that they can apply more force than single-handed weapons.
No over-reaching to land a blow.
Blows to shields that are of a greater force than given to a combatant are not allowed.
No cutting the ends off spears; use the flat of the blade to move the spear point away.
Courtesy at all times. If you startle, panic, hurt or injure your opponent, you immediately apologise and ensure he is OK. Lack of courtesy and empathy will result in the removal of you from the field.
An incident register will be used to gather data on people, groups, weapons, armour and actions to highlight trends that can be addressed. All combatants are to agree to the use of the register.
If you don't agree, you don't fight.
