Berrima Intergroup Training Wash-Up

Berrima had perfect weather with a sunny day and cool breeze.

After the initial brief, clarification of combat rules, a short discussion about Armidale we got into fighting.

Although it may seem weird, it was considered the most polite but intense fighting at Berrima yet with very few incidents. The most serious injury is still being voted on. It was either myself by trying to block with the pad of my thumb or Michael, the Marshall, blocking with his elbow……

The most unusual incident involved a fighter receiving a simultaneous 3 person blow to the head. All 3 blows were safe but the end result was an impact 3 times more than expected that provided a bit of a headache.

No noticeable incident trends occurred.

At the height of the fighting we had up to 24 fighters on the field with several fighters resting. In total we had at least 50 people attending.

Good discussion occurred in regards to the ALHF AGM.

We had a high numbers of non-combatant and WMA members in attendance which was excellent.

The only real down point was the my fault for assuming that the AAF member who normally brings the First Aid kit did so. After a quick scramble, we were able to have 2 kits available with the AAF kit then being found before the fighting started as we really did bring it.... It's more about communication than a safety incident.

Thanks to all that attended to make it a fantastic day. I have pencilled in 01 September as the next one, one month prior to Beorg Wic.

It has been asked if another one can be organised earlier but we are a bit busy mid-year but if we can find the time, we can look at it.

Cheers
