Minor website update
I've got almost all of the Gallery copied over from the old site. Thanks to Peter Cobcroft and Alex Mac for their help in downloading the old photos. You're going to love the new multi-photo upload. It works really well. I've tested it with the largest of the galleries, which have upwards of 30 photos.
Also, I now have Tags and Collections working. This is a really cool feature, which I wanted to implement on the old site. In the end I decided to do things differently back then. I've changed my mind now.
Basically, when you write an article, it is saved in your Member Folder, and that is where it will appear. However, you can add a Tag to it (for example, 'fighting') which means that it can be found by a Collection. A Collection gathers every item all over the website that has a specific Tag. For example, in the Archery section of the website, there is a Collection called 'Archery - articles'. So when you want to upload something to do with archery, you put it in your Member Folder, and it will be found by this Collection, and viewable by visitors in the Archery section of the website.
Tags can also be added to other types of content, including Links, Folders and Images. Basically, you can Tag anything you add to the site.
Some of the available Tags follow. The list is expandable in the future if needed.
- fighting
- craft
- costume
- archery
- viking
- saxon
- norman
- stormcry
That last Tag is a special one. Tagging something with 'stormcry' will, when I have managed to set it up properly, ensure that the tagged item will be included in the next automated Stormcry mail-out. News and Events do not need to be tagged.
