Website Design
I'm afraid I made a bit of a boo-boo with the website design cost. Remember how $150 sounded a little too good to be true? It was. Turns out it's $150/hour (plus a service fee). The upshot of this is that the design for the new website will most likely be around $500.
I still think it's worth it. It's a one-off cost to get a professionally designed internet presence for the club, and sourcing a design from elsewhere will be more expensive.
The alternatives are:
1. Download a free theme. I do NOT recommend this, as free themes a) are crap and b) do not reflect the activities of the club.
2. Use a stock theme. This is a standard theme that anyone can buy. Again I do not recommend, as stock themes a) are still about $500 and b) still do not reflect the activities of the club.
3. Get a custom theme from somewhere else. This is likely to cost around $1500. So, no.
I'm now at the point with the website that I'm ready to get it skinned and online, so I asked for a quote from Graphic Ark, at which point I was able to clarify the cost. I had misread his earlier ballpark figure. $500 is still a very good price - just not as outrageously good as I had at first thought.
