Viking/A-Saxon iron chest handles

Posted by Rod Pratt at August 04. 2008
Hello all,

I'm trying to source a pair of iron wrought handles to fit on the end of the proposed chest-cum-meadbench. Does anyone know who has or makes these in a style suitable for the earky medieval period?

There is no evidence for them as far as I know.
All the extant chests that were found did not have handles.
one or two English (A-S) boxes had ring handles in the centre of the lid, but thay had gable lids and were only about 30Cm cubed . They were not large and definatly couldn't be used as seats...
