He is also currently the club's Secretary. In his spare time, he maintains the very website you are now viewing. ![]() | Stephen Rule Stephen is a recent convert to the AAF cause, but has shown his mettle in many displays. Stephen also rides horses and is in training for jousting. He is primarily interested in the Norman culture, and is almost fanatic about the historical accuracy of his costume and fighting kit. |
![]() | Amanda Pickering Amanda joined the Fellowship in 2005, and has been one of our most valuable non-combat members. She has an extensive knowledge about both crafts and archaeology of the period, and frequently contributes to our educational displays. Amanda took many of the photos that appear on this website. |
![]() | Drew Ridley Drew is a superlative fighter, especially with that trademark of the Vikings, the two-handed axe. However, he is also very skilled with sword, sabre and glaive, and is a valuable asset in both regular training and in displays. He is primarily interested in the Viking civilisations, including the Rus. |
![]() | Sage Leslie-McCarthy A new recruit to the AAF, Sage is particularly interested in the pagan Anglo-Saxon period, and usually fights as a Huscarl (with her trusty sword 'Fenrir'). Though initially focussed on combat, the craft aspect of the club has proven insidious and she has now hand-sewn some Saxon male and female costumes, and is even learning tablet weaving! At the moment she is taking horse-riding lessons from Stephen, but has no intention of following him into the jousting lists! Rather her aspirations are to learn to throw a 'francisca' properly and to eventually get into combat archery. |
