Beorg-Wic 2008 Archery Events

Here is a list of the event planned for Beorg-Wic 2008

The “Harold’s right eye” Hastings game - This is a chance for Javeliniers and Archers to work in teams to break the Saxon shield wall and take out the King. Targets will be set up to fall over if hit so blunt ended javelins can be used. Bring what you’ve got and have a go – there will be prizes if you can get Harold’s eye.

Speed round – how many arrows can you release in 30 seconds? How many of those will hit the target? Test your skills and speed against other archers in the Speed round.

Stave shoot – could you hit the width of someone else bow in a duel like Einar Tambarskelve? Have a go at the stave shoot to find out.

Scored round – shoot out against other archers or just challenge your own skills in an 18 arrow scored round.

Combat Kubb – always wanted to try playing Kubb with combat blunts? Me too! We’re currently seeking a suitable space to play this rather silly game safely. Keep watching for details.

Open range times – the Beorg-wic archery range will be open for general use during the weekend. Time will be advertised on site and a Range Marshall will be there to supervise at all time.

The demi-god of nifty Steve Jawerth of Halfdan will be there with his ever popular Attack of the Gnomes as well as testing out his new Rolling Target set up.
